KAAPSE AFRIKAANSE
EISTEDDFOD
CHOIR
At Simon's Town School, we sing whenever we have the opportunity ! Our choirs sing for the love of it. Our choir festival takes place annually and a number of neighbouring schools participate enthusiatically. It is not a competition, but merely an opportunity for our learners to perform in public.
ART CLUB
Learners with an interest in visual arts are encouraged to join the Art Club. Lessons are offered on a weekly basis in a well-equipped art room. A highly competent and enthusiastic educator manages this club.
SPEECH AND DRAMA
Although Drama is a component of the Arts and Culture learning area, drama classes are offered at school on a weekly basis. These are of exceptional value, especially to the more reserved children.
INDIVIDUAL MUSIC LESSONS
PIANO: Individual lessons in piano are offered by a highly efficient lady with over twnty years' experience. The methods of instruction make provision for the needs of every individual student.
GUITAR: An independant musician visit the school every week to offer mainly guitar lessons. The students are, however, given the opportunity to also play the keyboard and drums.
RECORDER: Recorder lessons are offered as part of the extra-mural programme. Up to six learners are taught in a group. The distinghuising factors during these lessons are patience and accommodating the needs of each individual student.
KAAPSE AFRIKAANSE EISTEDDFOD
Learners are encouraged to take part in the Kaapse Afrikaanse Eisteddfod. Much effort is put into preparation for this event. Learners develop a positive attitude towards Afrikaans as an additional language, as well as confident use of the language.
